Gwen Caeli  -  Master Mountain Dulcimer - all skill levels and LOVING to get new players started.

Gwen Caeli

Playing traditional music is more fun than a pea-pickin' or corn-huskin', as it refreshes the spirit and tones the soul! Dulcimer brings this joy within reach of everyone, regardless of age or musical experience. My teaching spans from new/beginning players to intermediate/advanced players, including ensemble playing. Highlights include:
- beginning to advanced rhythm training,
- right hand techniques of strumming, noter-style playing, fingerpicking and flatpicking,
- (painless?!) dulcimer and music theory,
- playing techniques for each style,
- using a capo to change keys,
- using different tunings, how to get there and why
- different styles of playing including chord-melody style, fingerpicking. flatpicking, old-time traditional 'noter' style
- hear your lesson tunes on individualized CD's (in-person students) or emailed student audio tracks (long-distance Skype/Facetime students).

Dulcimer teaching experience: since 1989

I like to help students understand the hammered dulcimer as a diatonic instrument and understand the structure of music. With this knowledge, it becomes much easier to learn to play and create your own arrangements.
