Tom Strothers

Tom Strothers

we've been teaching the beginners at our club (Hills of Kentucky) for close to a year. We're interested in all types of music, and will work with you to find some that you are interested in. We stress learning by ear, but will use some TAB to teach from also. If you are new to the dulcimer and want to just see if it's the instrument for you, contact us. We'll do one or two free lessons to see if you like our style."

Tracie Henson - Strings of Glory Music  -  Hammered Dulcimer I do have rental instruments if you don't have one. That way you can see if it is an instrument that you really want to play and invest in.

Tracie Henson - Strings of Glory Music

Do you want to learn how to play a Hammered Dulcimer? OK, you've seen them, you watched them played, you may have played a CD and hear one playing on it, OR you may have even purchased one already. Now you wondered to yourself ......hmmmmm... can I do that? Now is the time and your chance to do just that! You have come to the right place. I am always looking for new students. I will take anyone from 9 years old up to 100! And no, it's never too late to learn. Beginners thru intermediate, it doesn't matter. You don't have to read a single note of music to be able to play one of these magnificent instruments! You just have to have the will to do it ..... and .... a little bit of know-how.....and of course..... practicing! I can provide you with the know-how and YOU can provide the willingness to learn and the dedication to practice. I also have instruments that you can rent first, to see if you really want to do this, instead of investing all of that money in purchasing a hammered dulcimer. You can take some lessons and see what you think about it. If there are a couple of you that want to learn and car-pool, that would be great. I'll take groups up to 3 or 4 at a time! So bring along your friends, sisters, brothers, aunts, uncles, mothers or fathers with you. We'll have a great time learning together! If there is 2-5 in your group, we will do an 1 hour to 1 1/2 hour, so that everyone has the opportunity to learn the know-how. We'll learn songs on your very first visit and keep building from there!
