Not quite as bad as the old Irish harpers, though, who used to use the body of their harps as a travel bag. Not that stupid, as it tended to support the body and added weight to stop them slinging it around uncautiously.
Another quick source from the harp world is to use a cheap sleeping bag as it comes already padded with a long zipper which can be easily adapted.
