Kenneth Bloom will be teaching our Bowed Dulcimer classes at DULCIMERVILLE, June 7-12 (http://Dulcimerville.com). On Monday afternoon special nurturing will be given to Beginner Bowed Dulcimer players in a 2-hour class for them only:

BEGINNING BOWED DULCIMER, with Kenneth Bloom. There will be some history, but most of the class will focus on playing from the very beginning. This would be a good choice if you are very new to the instrument or want to find out more about it. Everyone will get a chance to try playing the bowed dulcimer and this will also be a good place to review the basic fundamentals of playing.

What time Monday will that class be... Just wondering how soon I will need to be arriving, as I have about an 8 hour drive to get there.

Is there any help THIS year for the beginner. I'm signed up for Ken's class, but don't even have my b.d. yet. Just a little nervous about jumping in with all those "already players."

No worries about "jumping in". First of all there is a beginners class to get you started. Then, the way the class is run is that the pieces that we play have three parts for beginners, intermediate and advanced. Everyone gets all the parts. Everyone hears the explanations of all the parts. As a beginner you will work on the part that is within your ability to play. That way you can work on your technique and also have the wonderful experience of being part of the group, contributing your part. You will not be alone. There are always plenty of people to play al three parts. You will also find that the BDers sitting next to you will be very helpful as well. I also try to make time with each student to address particular concerns. By the end of the week you should be a much better player then when you came. As always, feel free to ask questions.
