New / Young Dulcimer Players Forum - March 10, 2009

The next New / Young Dulcimer Players Forum will be March 10, 2009 at 8:00pm central on my web site www.jeffhames.com .

We opened the door last month on music theory and gave you a little bit of information to think about. This month we are going to start breaking it down so we can cover a couple of topics at a time. By doing this we will be able to give you more information during the hour of the forum.

This month’s topic will be Part 2 - Note Reading, Chords & Symbols and Intervals. In this forum I would like to cover the musical alphabet, note values, meter, clefs and staff, triads, Roman Numeral Analysis and possibly start on intervals. I know this seems like a lot of information to take in all at once but keep in mind something as simple as knowing a notes value (how many beats it gets) can make all the difference in the world on your timing, rhythm and how a songs sounds when played. I’m going to try to bring some pictures to the forum that might help in the explanations.
