I'm working on playing it by ear. It's going to be a challenge!
Wellen sounded great to! :D I play it slower and crosspick it. It sounds more like a lulubye when I play it. I like how you made it sound more "rockish"! (Is that even a word?!)

Yup, Cold Frosty Morning is very very hard to learn, but its one of the mots fun songs you can possibly learn.

Thanks, I never could quite get down cross picking in that song, its a awesome song though.

Cold Frosty Morning

Postby MS Folk Music Society » Sat Oct 27, 2007 9:00 pm

I'm one of those "kids at hart" and way past your 18 year age limit, but it's nice to see young people so interested in the dulcimer.

Very Nice job wild wood flower on cold frosty morning. Check out this link http://cdbaby.com/cd/jeffhames2 You can listen to a clip of Jeff Hames doing cold frosty morning that is on his new CD. It sounds pretty cool too.

I enjoy watching you young people play the dulcimer. You all are amazing. :D

Its a really sweet song. And its not that hard to play! I got the sheet music and tabbed it out. To play youhave to have a 1 1/2 fret, or just put your capo on 4th fret.

Hi im 14, and I have played for about 1.5 years now. It's amazing how much there is to learn on such a seemingly simple instrument!

Just wondering????

Postby MS Folk Music Society » Wed Apr 02, 2008 7:31 am

I was just wondering if any of you young people are going to make it to the Southern Regional Dulcimer Competition in Mt. View, AR? This is also the Dulcimer Jamboree. It's all held at the Ozark Folk Center in Mt. View.

Here are the dates: April 24-26, 2008.

I probably won't be able to make it this year, but one of these years I would love to be able to go.

My four year old grandson will strum along with my wife's ulcimer while I creep along on my 64 year old fingers with mine. He worries a whole lot less than I about errors. NOtes don't seem to be too important yet but he likes to keep close with the rythm.
