Hammered Dulcimer Owners/Players in Toronto

Postby Gogoland » Mon Aug 20, 2012 1:28 am

Hi

I am interested in the hammered dulcimer and would very much love to try out one before investing in a purchase. I would be most grateful if a Toronto owner/player is willing to show me a thing or two on theirs... or rent me one. Please let me know. Thanks.

I have a longtime friend who plays HD south of Hamilton. She has found a group somewhere around Toronto. She can't join them much because of the distance, but she can probably give you the information you need. Her name is Debbie Kinloch and you can contact her at http://www.parrotscanada.com/ Tell her Chris gave you her name.

Thank you for the reply Chris. I will contact her though it seems weird messaging her about this on a parrot website lol. I do remember being messaged by someone who told me about a group in Hamilton but since I live in central Toronto and don't drive, it is very tricky heading down that way. It has been very difficult to locate any players or owners in Toronto and it seems I may have to gamble with a purchase even before knowing if the HD is truly an instrument for me. I really wish I could try one out as these are expensive to just purchase on a whim without even trying them first. Oh well....

Debbie goes up to Toronto periodically with her mobile parrot grooming business, so maybe you could met on one of her trips to Toronto, and try out her instrument, it is a Rick Thum Professional. She is fun and easy-going.

I just wanted to give you the update. I emailed her in September but I never got a response.
