I've been working at my job as a contractor for nearly 3 years. This means I show up to work at one company, but I get paid by a different company. The good news is that I'm working , the tough news is that as a contractor we have really bad health insurance (as I found out when I fell and shattered my arm this year) and no retirement plan.
Well after 3 years to company I work at has just offered me a full time position. Better insurance, a 401k with matching funds, and a sense of stability.
After 3 years this all came out of the blue last week. Next Monday is my first day as a new employee. Funny enough, I'll be working on the same project with the same people in the same cubicle I've been in for 3 years.
