"Patty Ann" Need Sheet Music or Tab

Postby dulcILLINI » Sat Dec 30, 2006 12:17 am

OK, all of you tune sleuths, please help me out here.

I am looking for a tab or tune (in simple music notation) for the song, "Patty Ann".

This seems like a great song for the mountain dulcimer, from just hearing it. I recently purchased a CD "Front Porch Gathering--Old Time Mountain Instrumentals" at the Cracker Barrel Restaurant. It is an excellent collection of acoustic music, by the way. I listen to it all the time. The song "Patty Ann" is cut #10 on the CD.

Does anyone know anything about this song. Any information would be greatly appreciated. Sheet music or tab would be fine. I can load it up on TablEdit and write the dulcimer arrangement if necessary.

Mike, I did some research and found a song "Patti Ann" recorded by Johnny Crawford. He did not write the song. It was written by a C. Goldsmith and an L. Smith. I haven't found anything about them yet. Most lyric sites say the author has not given permission for the lyrics to be displayed. I haven't been able to find it any books of sheet music yet. I'm trying to find out a little bit more about the authors.

Thanks Ken for your effort. I appreciate it. The CD from Cracker Barrell is surprisingly good. It has many excellent traditional folk tunes on it.

It makes the miles go by much easier on the interstate. I recommend this CD.

I'll look for it when I get to a Craker Barrel which may be sometime next week.

I had my son get a "Front Porch Gathering--Old Time Mountain Instrumentals" CD for me.
This is a very good CD.

What information does the cd give as to the tune's back ground? I've never heard of a tune or song called Patty Ann. I know of a Sally Ann, but not Patty. The Chad Mitchell Trio on one of their first albums does "Sally Ann".

You might try contacting Johnny Crawford directly at info@crawfordmusic.com

and asking him if he has the music.

When I lived out in California one of the girls I worked with was his prom date at Hollywood High. At least Millie had a typical prom picture of them together (before computer fudging was common). Knowing that Patti Ann was one of the songs he recorded brought back a lot of old memories. It's amazing how things connect.
