Our French band, "Les Campagnards," invites you to our "STORM THE
BASTILLE!" concert to celebrate Bastille Day with a BANG! It's a big, colorful and
upbeat French musical blowout at Angelica's Bistro--a unique and enjoyable "dinner
theatre" experience--in Redwood City, CA on Thursday, July 12.
"Les Campagnards" performs in costume and will keep you tapping your toes and
enthusiastically singing and dancing. With about 80 collective years of playing and
performing French tunes and songs as well as leading French dancing, we are (all SFFMC
members): Gary Breitbard (accordion, vocals & leading dancing), Jena Rauti (accordion,
vocals & leading dancing), Alan Keith (French bagpipes & accordion) and Peter Tommerup
(mountain dulcimer, hammered dulcimer & percussion). We'll be joined by highly talented
musical friends who add to the color and variety of our French musical extravaganza:
Daniel Steinberg (piano), Debra Dawson (vocals, hurdy gurdy & fiddle), and Doris Williams
(vocals).
Gary Breitbard and Jena Rauti will lead easy-to-follow country dances and mixers that are
popular at the “bals folklorique”--bourrée, scottish, polka, and valse. We'll sing La
Marseillaise and other French favorites – song sheets provided.
We had great fun doing this show last year and we intend to repeat that good time with
lots of hearty singing, dancing and music--both from Paris and the French countryside! We
hope you can join us along with your friends and family. This is a fun and engaging show
that you'll enjoy sharing with them!
Table reservations are highly recommended -- the event is $10 per person in advance,$14
at the door. Allow minimum $15 per person for food/drink purchases. Angelica's Bistro is
at 863 Main Street in Redwood City.
