Marc, I know how it is not having other dulcimer players close to where i live. I have started a dulcimer club on paltalk scene .com . If you download that ,login, then click "action", then join a chat room, then music, then live music, then dulcimer club. So far we open on Tuesday at 8:00 PM eastern and Saturday at 8:00 PM. There is a raise hand feature then a place to click to turn on microphone. We have a lot of fun sharing songs. When its your turn you can play for the group (many are beginners). When someone else has the microphone you can sing and or play along and not be heard.Come join us. This invatation also goes out to others who might read this. Also if you are interested but would like us to ope4n at a differerent time ,Please let me know.

Live in Auburn, AL. Purchased a Warren May walnut hourglass April 22. It is beautiful and sounds great, especially when Warren plays it. My first experience with any stringed instrument. Mostly working on learning to play at home. Have been playing some with Whistle Stop Pickers who meet in Loachapoka, AL 1-3 every Saturday afternoon. Am thoroughly enjoying getting acquainted with my dulcimer and making new friends. Am amazed at how quickly I've been able to learn a few tunes.

Yep I think that is what this is about. Update on where I play. I will be doing an interactive dulcimer demonstration in Parkton, NC on Oct 1.In addition to laaying a few songs I will invite people to come up and play. For those who have never played I will teach them a simple song in about 5 minutes. I will be doing the same thing ata tourism event at Bibbs Parl Mall in Lumberton, NC on Oct. 3. On Oct. 24 I will be at 'Chevy to the Levy" in Lumberton, NC. The dulcimer room on paltalk scene .com in the live music section is still open on Tues. evenings at 8:00 PM eastern. Come and play with us or listen if you would like.

Where do I live? Wherever the motorhome is parked, which is usually wherever I get work <g>...currently in the Roanoke, VA area, hopefully until next March (6 months contract)

Where do I play? Mostly by myself. I have the darnest time finding other players. When I was in Texas, I was growing a few of my own, but we've relocated to Front Royal, VA, except when I'm working, then it's wherever.

Anybody near Roanoke? Front Royal?

I live in Ogden Utah. I'm pretty sure the nearest other dulcimer player (other than my daughter) is in Salt Lake.

I live in Lowell, MA. I just put in an order for Harpmaker's Student Model. I also play the drum on a stick. Ok, no one here plays dulcimer or banjo. Alright, maybe someone but most just think they are wicked weird.

So, as always... I am a wicked weird New Englandah. I also have a hard time parallel pahking my cah.

Andy, I've been enjoying your posts here on ED. It's been quite some time since I've been through Lowell. I think it is great to have a banjo and mountain dulcimer player from New England here on ED.

Andy, there's bound to be some dulcimer players around ... you're in Lowell? I'd bet there's some college kids/old folkies in the Boston-Cambridge area who play. Boston was one of the centres of the Great Folk Scare, after all. Heck, we've got 'em up here in Toronto.

I would settle for someone else in Lowell who just knew what a banjo and a dulcimer was. I listed on my facebook page that I was purchasing a mountain dulcimer and well that lead to numerous explanations needed.

Oh well, maybe I am starting a revival of sorts?
