I have a dulcimer "kit" made by Stanley Hicks. Stanley gave it to me back in the mid 1970's and I have never put it together. Basically, it includes the fretboard with grooves marked (but not cut), a strip of fret wire, the top and back, the neck, and the sides. Unique to Stanley's style of construction is that he cut the sides in a curved shape rather than bend them, as most makers do. The top is marked for location of the fretboard, and heart-shaped patterns of very small holes have been drilled into the top to be carved by whomever puts it together. All markings and drilled holes were put there by Stanley. He did not include tuning pegs, as he used standard violin pegs that can be obtained from any music store or catalog. STH (for Stanley Tom Hicks) is carved into the back of the head where the tuning pegs go. The entire kit is made of walnut. If interested, contact me at
