Bug Report: Encoding Issue

Postby WaterPig Master » Tue Oct 04, 2011 3:37 pm

Hi Admins,

Just a little encoding bug I noticed: When I type an ellipsis in a post, it comes out garbled.

Example ellipsis: …

EDIT: It seems to be working! Now, is that because I edited the post, or because it's a new post as opposed to a reply, or something else? Hmmm…

Cheers,
Barnaby

Test to see if it was the fact that I'm replying that garbled the character:

Edit: It wasn't. The plot thickens.

Post with the problem: viewtopic.php?f=3&t=27425#p335895

Near the end of the second paragraph.

That error is appearing with increasing frequency.

Are you talking about all the extraneous material at the top of the page in your example? If so, I think that is due to the apostrophe in Aaron's ORourke's name. That appears on every thread to which he posts.

I hope I didn't go through the trouble of legally taking the apostrophe out of my name for nothing... this was suppose to fix the problem! :D

I haven't seen the messed up screen for several days now [last few posts]. I think that may have done it Aaron.

Correction made.

Aaron hasn't posted to this thread:

viewtopic.php?f=6&t=27560&p=337430#p337430

That would seem to rule out the theory that his name is responsible for the error.

Hey Skip, just making sure you know I was being sarcastic. While it's probably unnecessary to dwell on, I forget to be sure to add an abundance of smiley faces to posts that are meant to be taken positively....

Actually I think the term is listed in my medical dictionary.

O'Rourke Syndrome (n, contemp US): Rare, incurable malady defined by a permanently altered state of consciousness, in which the subject is inexplicably infused with profound and extraordinary musical talent. Victims are often youthful, self-effacing, soft-spoken and good-looking. Only one confirmed diagnosis thus far in the United States.
