Hi Dan, I'm in the discussion forums and I go to the menu at the right-hand side under "User Menu" and click on the bottom where it says "Logout".

yesterday i deleted all board cookies before logging in and checking the usual box.
today i still had to login as usual.
must be something else wrong with the login.

for the umpteenth time, i still think it's odd that it had been working and then stopped.
being a software developer myself, i'd go back and look at what i changed at the time it stopped working.
you do have a source code control system, right?

I'm sorry you're having problems. Please understand that yours is the exception, rather than the rule.

Yes, we document and test what we do. which still doesn't mean we don't make mistakes or catch every potential issue with every browser. It is also possible that there is something over which neither you nor I have no knowledge or control happening. Browsers get updated, paths to cookies get corrupted on PCs, ISPs and service plans have different ways of dealing with DNSs and and assignment of URLs. I'm happy that you can log in, and wish I knew why you don't stay logged in like most of the users here. Unfortunately, I don't know. Even after researching it and testing different methods, we haven't been able to find the answer.

Dan - it seems that finally I'm staying logged in (IE6, Windows XP and I'm looking at the prosilver version of the board). Even with moving the computer from work to home.

Thanks for all the hard work. Again - I've been in the "system support" role, and it's not an easy thing to do.

the key is that it used to work until something changed on the board, not here in my pc.
i think there are a bunch of other folks who are having to log in, but they're just not saying anything about it.
i'm using IE6 and Windows XP.
i stay logged in on other discussion groups, some of which are using the same basic phpBB software.
could the ability to log in automatically be linked to an ip address?
could it have anything to do with the ability to chose a theme?
it was working fine until the theme choices came along.

i always have my pc set to Ask whether to accept cookies.
i did back when it was working and i still do.
that way i can refuse tracking cookies from ad agencies.
of course i clicked to Accept cookies from everythingdulcimer.com and checked Remember this setting for this site.
don't know what else can be done from the client side.
now it's got to be something on the server side.

See Missy's post, just above yours. She has the same setup and it works. Perhaps it is a cookies problem. I'm pretty sure you've tried deleting the Everything Dulcimer cookies and letting them reset, but just in case, have you?

We changed servers completely, so that is probably the event that caused the problem.
