Building mountain Dulcimers since 1973 as a hobby. I'm now retired, and have a full blown shop where I build mountain dulcimers from scratch...starting with rough cut lumber. Most of my wood is air dried walnut, but I can, of course, get whatever I need for custom instruments. I tend to build high end instruments, but I can also build beginner instruments without all the bells and whistles. I'm currently working on my first six string. The dulcimers I'm making now are getting a double bottom which I've found to produce a bigger, richer voice than single bottoms. Every instrument is a new adventure at this point. I constantly try different techniques to improve sound quality. I love my work.
