I mainly build Mountain Dulcimers and Guitars. Each instrument I build is completely built by hand, by me. This includes inlay and finishing work. My prices are reasonable, and custom building is what I enjoy most. You can view over a thousand photographs of my work at the website listed and I can put you in contact with satisfied customers if you desire. Thank you, and Go Well!

Pete Staehling  -  Raven Mountain Dulcimer (full sized) Sparrow Mountain Dulicmer (very small) Bluebird Stick Dulcimer (very small) Wren Mountain Dulcimer (tiny)

My Dulcimers are a bit of a departure from the current norm in a couple ways. First, they are focused of portability. They are suited to backpacking, bike touring, and other uses where light weight and small size are an advantage. Second, while they depart farther from the more traditional instruments in design than some, they are more in line with the spirit of them. Traditional dulcimers were designed to be played by folks of modest means. Fine finishes, fancy inlays, and other frills were skipped in favor of a more rustic instrument that could be taken along without worry even into the wilds of the back country. I am trying to emulate that in my dulcimers. My dulcimers are intended to be fun to play and pleasing to the ear without being fancy. I find the simple rustic look pleasing to the eye as well.
